I don’t know you guys, I think we might be the lucky ones. The further we descend into an administration that seems to know no rock bottom, one that’s consumed by an obsession with “enemies” that don’t actually exist, and hellbent on promoting an absurdist interpretation of Christianity to a nation that was intentionally founded without religion, the more I’m convinced that single women will be the ones who come out of this shit alright.
The language is terrifying. The words and sentiments being amplified by a government that we pay to fund increasingly echo fascist ideals from the past, a past I once thought we all understood as vile and shameful. Our government is, at this point, blatantly telling (white, Christian) women to marry and reproduce, with emphasis on the necessity of “submitting” to their husbands. Do you remember the guys you dated when you were 25? Can you imagine “submitting” to the will of any of them? There has truly never been a better time to be single.
